Worried about getting audited by the IRS and going to jail for tax fraud? Well, if you’re not intentionally cheating on your taxes then you’re not going to jail. However, that doesn’t mean you’re not going to get audited by the IRS.
For many people, getting audited by the IRS is terrifying, and if they do get that ominous letter in the mail, the immediately proceed to freak out.
If that’s you, then don’t worry. There are services, called audit protection services, available for people just like you.
In the unlikely event that you do get audited by the IRS, these services will meet with the IRS on your behalf, so you never have to deal directly with the IRS. If you get that letter in the mail, then you call up your audit protection agency, and they’ll handle things.
It’s not a license to cheat of commit fraud, but for the honest taxpayer simply worried about getting audited, it can be a worthwhile investment.
