Protecting this data is actually the law

Knowing that an employee is stealing from you and having the ability to prove it are two different things. That is where CCTV comes in. CCTV is basically the ability to watch employees while they are at work. Of course it could be for any purpose, but the main focus seems to be the workplace. But, what happens when you catch the employee doing something illegal and you terminate their employment and they take you to court? Well, if your company is compliant with current laws then you followed the CCTV Data Protection Act and allowed the accused to see all of the information gathered on himself. If you did not then you leave yourself open to a lawsuit from the disgruntled employee and also to fines from the government.
