Counseling Helps an Abusive Man Overcome His Problems

Daniel had done something that would be hard to deal with for a long time. He did exactly what his father had done, namely lost a wife due to alcohol abuse and domestic violence.  What was so difficult for Daniel to comprehend was how much he hated what his father did to his mother, yet around twenty-five years later, he did similar things to Betsy, his wife.  Daniel started to wonder if his abusive behavior was “programmed” in his genes.  Unlike his father, however, Daniel wanted to get help.  So he was admitted to a residential alcohol rehab program where he learned how to live his life alcohol-free.  While at the rehab center, moreover, he received counseling for his violent temper.  And since a lot of his frustrations came from money issues that resulted from under employment and unemployment, he also got career counseling at the rehab center.  By the time Daniel got his life straightened out, his wife Betsy had remarried.  This was a painful pill for Daniel to swallow but he eventually became a supportive and loving father to his children and managed to establish a friendly relationship with his ex-wife.
