A very much interesting market place is the foot surgery, as there are two groups of specialists fighting for market share. A 3 year surgical residency is needed by Podiatrists after their podiatry degree and orthopedic foot while ankle surgeons generally do a 1 yr foot and ankle residency after their general orthopedics residency. So, if you need foot surgery who is the best; who do you go to? Podiatrists like to think that there preparation is better as they only focus on one area which is the foot. The orthopedic surgeons think there is better because they focus i the whole body first before specialling. There is no data on the differences and at the end of the day they probably equal.
