Pirate Flag Meanings
I’ve never known, nor really cared for that matter, about all things pirate. My daughter is a fan of the recent pirate movies and I often listen to her tales about pirates. She investigates pirates online and sometimes checks out pirate books from the school library. At dinner one evening, she was telling our family that there is a difference in pirate flags. I have not verified this information, but what she told us is this: Pirates fly white flags when they are in pursuit of a ship. The black and white flags associated with the pirate ships usually contain skull and crossbones or daggers. If a pirate ship is flying a red and white flag, it means they will be excruciatingly brutal when they catch up to the ship they pursue.
