She investigates pirates online and sometimes checks out pirate books from the school library. At dinner one evening, she was telling our family that there is a difference in pirate flags. I have not verified this information, but what she told us is this: Pirates fly white flags when they are in pursuit of a ship. The black and white flags associated with the pirate ships usually contain skull and crossbones or daggers. If a pirate ship is flying a red and white flag, it means they will be excruciatingly brutal when they catch up to the ship they pursue.
