View of Heaven
I have no doubt he will do well on the Ph.D. level. He definitely is determined, creative, and has a genuine interest in learning. But the doctrine of hell is missing. He preaches heaven, but not Views on Hell. David comes from an unusual background that includes an exposure to the demands of inner city life. He seems to flourish in this environment and, I believe, will be able to accomplish more than most when he returns with proper training in counseling. I hope he definitely is given the opportunity. In Ph.D. work a scholar needs to preach the whole bible, even hell, and even when it is difficult.
